Frequently Asked Questions
What is the submission process?
Submissions will be accepted using the online submission form.
The SVR team will review the submissions and consider them for inclusion. The number of submissions accepted and the criteria that is used to judge the music for inclusion is subject to change. We will contact musicians in the event that your music has been accepted or declined.
Musicians that are selected will sign a non-exclusive terms of use agreement and are required to provide assets necessary to add your music.
What music does SV Records accept?
We want to provide new opportunities to engage with the whole range of our local music community. There are no restrictions on genre. We’re specifically interested in albums from musicians currently writing and performing music.
We are seeking recordings produced within the last five years.
Cover songs can be accepted into Sun Valley Records, as long as they are submitted with the proper copyright and licensing.
What constitutes an album?
We are defining an album as a collection of compositions featuring a collective length of over 20 minutes or a minimum of 7 unique tracks (only needs to fulfill one of these requirements).
What file types will you accept?
We prefer high-quality masters in FLAC, WAV, or AIFF formats, but we’ll also accept high bitrate Mp3, AAC, and Ogg Vorbis. The minimum audio quality accepted is 256kbps.
What if I am signed to a record label?
The music license agreement stipulates that you have all necessary rights and responsibilities for streaming and download through Sun Valley Records. In other words, please make sure that your label is comfortable with Sun Valley Records’ terms of use before you submit your music.
What if my album is not accepted?
Please feel free to submit again during a later submission round. Selection criteria may change over time and there will be more opportunities to submit your work.
How do audiences download Music?
Downloads are available for listeners and fans. Musicians receive 70% of their album download sales and are paid on a monthly basis.
Streaming is also available to listeners. Limited free streaming is available to all listeners. SVR will over time establish a subscription fee for streaming services. At that time artists will receive a revenue share.
